KPAC organizes regular photoshoots as well as field trips and special events to explore a variety of places and activities of interest to our members. In addition, from time to time, we hold workshops on a specific photographic genre. Here are some photo memories of these fun events.
For the summer photo challenge, shoot the same subject in at least 3 different ways. For example, colour, black and white, double exposure, near/far perspective, low key, high key, intentional camera movement or any other variation you come up with.
On this evening, members displayed several of their photo works in print. Framed art, cards and books were on display for members and guests to enjoy and discuss. It was an enjoyable evening at an art gallery like occasion.

The Photography Department at London Drugs agreed to print, frame and display six images from members of our club. The images for the six categories were selected by club members. This is the second such collaboration between London Drugs and KPAC>
Amtgard-Barony of River Watch is a live action role play group who practice a medieval fighting style. They have wonderful costumes and authentic looking weapons and will be bringing their “A” game for our members to photograph. There will be opportunities to do portraits as well as catch them in combat action. They are a very friendly, fun and enthusiastic group.

Members of the club gathered at the Plaza in front of the House of Learning at Thompson Rivers University to practise their portrait skills in natural light and an outdoor setting. People and animal models were on site to pose for photos. Ross Outerbridge provided guidance and mentoring on model positioning, backdrops, use of flash and reflectors, among other tips and tricks. Even though it was quite windy, the event was a great success and enjoyed by all.
The Kamloops Model Airplane Society invite KPAC members to join them at the Tolko Airfield for an Airshow and Static display of models at 10 AM followed by a ‘GoPro’ Seminar at 12:30 – 1:00 PM lead by Mark Betuzzi.
Hosted by longtime club member David Williams, everyone is invited to gather at the TRU Greenhouses and gardens for a photo shoot in the greenhouses. There are lots of beautiful buds waiting to be photographed.
Did you know that donkeys can live to over 50 years? Turtle Valley Donkey Refuge opened their doors to us on Sept 29, 2019 - after the season ended. We took advantage of their generosity and availed ourselves of the many photo opportunities. In the process learned a great deal about these wonderful animals.
A Big Thank-you goes out to the gardeners at TRU Thompson Rivers University and to Darlene and Robert Nowland for inviting KPAC members into their gorgeous gardens for a visual summer treat. We so much appreciate your passion and care for the flowers. Enjoy our images plus a few captured along our travels.
Angelina was our guide to the Tuskast Islandic Horse Farm near Merritt BC. After photographing the Horses, some of the group stopped at Brambles Bakery and Cafe for a light lunch and view some of Angelina’s images in their gallery.
Most of us met in Valleyview Friday morning to explore attractions or photo opportunities enroute to Revelstoke. Friday after dinner in Revelstoke included a guided walking tour of historic houses. Saturday morning included Moses, Begbie and Sutherland Falls before going downtown to the farmers market and car show; Saturday afternoon included Skunk Cabbage and Giant Cedars walks; Saturday night we met for a group dinner. Sunday views over Revelstoke preceded our trip home. After another successful photography weekend, here are a selection of images from the club photographers.
March 21, 2018: A photo challenge where members photographed the North side of the 400 block Victoria to see how many different "lens" views we could gather. The 6:30 start time gave us some daylight, twilight and streetlight photo opportunities.
KPAC participated in the 5th Annual Family Day Festival. The TCC was transformed into a festival for kids of all ages. Activities included tea parties, theatre, live music, sports and arts & crafts; along with photo displays and activities with the Kamloops Photo Arts Club.

Destination Cariboo Melodee our field trip director with the assistance of others and local hosts Dorothy & Ron Telford, & working with Larry Citra of the Bridge Lake Club put together a great weekend of photo opportunities for those KPAC members that attended. A social meeting around the campfire Friday, followed on Saturday with a guided tour through wilderness and Pinnette lake, before the evening BBQ at Sheridan Lake Resort. Sunday was a chance for those that stayed to see Mahood Lake and Canim Lake Falls.
