Sept 18 – Crystal Receives CAPA Honour
September 20 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
CITATION – CAPA CLUB MEMBER AWARD
The Kamloops Photo Arts Club through our membership with CAPA, the Canadian Association for Photographic Arts, is pleased to honour member Crystal Fennell for her exceptional service to KPAC and by extension to the world of Photographic Arts in Canada.
Crystal joined the KPAC executive as a member at large in 2016. She quickly segued into the critical role of Receiver of Images organizing, presenting and projecting digital submissions for all weekly programs save the odd field trip or night shoot.
Crystal’s expertise is required for ninety-five percent of KPAC programs including the monthly Showcase Challenges, competition selection, demonstrations and/or assisting special presenters navigate the computer/projector train.
An automotive technician by trade and mother of a five year-old son Crystal has developed a thoughtful, educational and inspiring slate of Showcase Challenges for us in the coming year. She is a strong team player, seemingly unflappable, and always willing to go the extra mile for club members and our guests. She brings expertise, passion and diplomacy to her role. In her “there is no guile.”
Please join me in extending our appreciation to Crystal as I now invite Inter-club liaison, Brian Mitchell, to present the Canadian Association for Photographic Arts’ Medal on our behalf.
Ken Gray, KPAC President
A little background on Crystal; She writes:
I started with photography in 2010 as a volunteer photographer for a Cadet Corp in Surrey. I became addicted to the art quite quickly, trading in my point and shoot for a Nikon D3200. I now shoot with Nikon D7000/7100. Just recently I’ve started working more with smart phone photography as there has been a large shift and interest and I wanted to learn more. Started my 365 day photo challenge using just my Samsung S21 Ultra and so far I’m impressed. It’s no DSLR though. Still carry one of those with me everywhere I go!
