DESCRIPTION:For this evening’s meeting we are going to be treated to a presentation on Astrophotography by Mike Douthwright. Mike is a fairly new member of our club so you may or may not have had the chance to meet him yet\, but perhaps you’ve seen some of his amazing night shots. This was Mike’s start….  \n\n\n\n“It was April of 2021 and I had just bought a used Canon Rebel T3i.  I was out camping and taking pictures after dark of constellations\, but also just shooting at random when I noticed a green haze when I shot towards the east.  I continued to turn to the north and suddenly my screen lit up with glowing green bands of aurora.  That was it\, the pictures weren’t amazing but I was hooked and proceeded to teach myself to take better night shots solely through trial and error and YouTube tutorials.” \n\n\n\nYou will not want to miss this introduction on how to capture your own Milky Way or Northern Lights masterpieces.  \n\n\n\nThis Presentation if via Zoom Video Conferencing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMike Douthwright Photo

Based in Ucluelet after spending many years in Whistler\, David’s expertise lies in capturing the beauty of the natural world\, from majestic mountain ranges to ethereal northern lights. His passion for time-lapse photography adds a dynamic element to his work\, making his presentations both visually stunning and educational. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, David will showcase still images\, time-lapse videos\, and his unique approach to capturing last light (around sunset) from a helicopter.
