Showcase is a monthly event which provides members with the opportunity to share photos on any topic they choose. The “focus” is on participation.
However, each Showcase does have a stated theme and members are encouraged to explore and interpret this theme in an effort to expand their photographic experiences.

Decorations, lights, parcels, feast and fashion, there is red and green everywhere at this time of year. Get into the festive spirit, look all around you and start shooting and share your images.

We all carry cell phones in our pockets these days that can quickly take family pictures, night scenes, landscapes and even out the car window pics much quicker than getting the full gear out. Slow shutter and Snapseed are a couple of apps to try. So get that cell phone clicking and share your photos.

At this time of year, fall colours are on full display like no other everywhere you look. Members were encouraged to try some macro along with sweeping landscapes of colour and anything else that caught their eye.

Family, travel, gardens, campouts, summer sports, rest and relaxation are all part of the summer season to capture. There are numerous opportunities for fantastic images for you to create and share.

Look for patterns in nature, flora and fauna and wildlife. Try new ways of incorporating light into your landscape images.

Feel free to take photos of churches inside and out. Graveyards/cemeteries are interesting places to visit and photograph.

Wabi-sabi is a way to incorporate imperfections into your work to discover new visual elements and effects. When we apply wabi-sabi to photography and to the artistic process itself, we embrace mistakes and errors, not as things to avoid and correct, but as new elements to strive for. It celebrates the natural cycles of growth and decay and the importance of appreciating natural flaws and imperfections that exist in all things.

Use your imagination, any object that holds or transports something is considered a container. Think outside the ‘box’, in the ‘closet’, better ‘safe’ than sorry, a bun in the ‘oven’, etc

Shoot old and young feet and hands and anything in between. Colour, black and white and large or small – we look forward to seeing your creative shots.

For this Showcase, try reflections off water – could be a lake, river or even a mud puddle. Reflections from the sun or try a self portrait in a mirror or window.

For this Showcase, try using Intentional Camera Movement, Double or Multiple Exposure, Artificial Intelligence, Macro or use Photoshop or other Photo processing software filters to create an abstract image. Or use any other technique that works for you.

Kamloops and area boasts a multitude of fences in a variety of styles. Think pickets, barbed wire, Russel, zig-zag, lattice and split rail to name a few.

Your images should include one of the above and can be stationary or in motion. It can also be in pieces or parts. Feel free to exercise your creative expression.

A favourite for many of our members who love to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of our surroundings and all that Mother Nature has to offer. A great opportunity to work on your landscape, animal, bird, flora and fauna and macro photography. For those of you who attended, don’t forget to include some of your images from the Bird & Waterfowl photoshoot with Norm Dougan.

Just what the title implies, photograph people going about their day to day jobs or recreational activities.

This could be the Kamloops Hoo Doos, any of our iconic city sculptures or parks or anything else that immediately makes you think Kamloops!

An image where the photographer intentionally moves the camera during exposure to produce streaking or an artistic effect to their photo.

For this showcase, think about any space that is left blank around your subject. When composing your shot, observe how the negative space enhances your subject
